About What He Lost: A Botanical Mystery
Pie.World's interactive software lets anyone create their own interactive video. As proof of concept, the Pie.World team produced What He Lost: A Botanical Mystery. Conceived as a demo for the interactive software, What He Lost was designed two years before the software's features were confirmed.
The demo was shot in a single location with two cameras in 18 hours. Seasonal footage was shot and cataloged during R&D of the Pie.World platform concept. Additional footage used for interactions was shot as the software was developed, and all products featured in the movie were supplied by friends and teammates. The music score was composed during editing by the director, who had no previous music scoring experience.

Juliana Salles has a passion and deep curiosity for understanding how technology can help shape people's lives, their relationships, and the world around them, in particular applying computing technologies to fighting global warming and environmental challenges. Juliana has extensive experience solving multi-disciplinary challenges by taking broken services experiencing regular outages and repairing and scaling them into more modern, stable, and robust systems to better serve her team’s customers.

Rodrigo Lopez was born in Monterrey, Mexico. A veteran of the software and video games industry, Rodrigo Lopez had the opportunity to leave his mark in the world of interactive film with his breakthrough role in What He Lost, a Pie.World interactive movie.
Rod currently lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife, Alejandra Jimenez, and their three children, Rod Jr., Lily, and Alex.
Deanna Liceaga is an artist born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Her varied arts background includes singing, emceeing, voice-over, sculpture, glass blowing, mixed media collage, drawing, modeling and dance. She currently works as a Visual and Graphic Designer in the tech industry and resides in Tacoma, Washington.
